PETIT MONDE PHFW 2013

Filipino apparel brand Petit Monde unveils four exciting new collections last October 23 at the Mall of Asia as it marks its first appearance at the Philippine Fashion Week.

I was invited to the pre-styling session for the fashion show headed by one of the people I look up to in the industry: Ms. Pam Quinones. Sadly, I had a client meeting that day so I missed it :(
The brainchild of sisters Carolyn Tan and Dorothy Tan- Tionson, Petit Monde has been dressing up stylish, young Filipina women for over two decades now. Pioneering the use of young showbiz icons as endorsers, Petit Monde has welcomed many fashionable and wholesome young stars in its roster over the years, including Manilyn Reynes, Carmina Villaroel, Ana Roces, Sunshine Cruz, Cheska Garcia, Jodi Sta. Maria, Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, and Maja Salvador.

Philippine Fashion Week completes Petit Monde's evolution to redefine the modern, fashionable Filipina. Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic, Petit Monde's four new collections are named Mori, Saku, Ura Hara, and Sekai, showcasing a spectrum of colors as well as sillhouettes for the brand.

Here are some of my favorite pieces from the show:

Mori ("rainforest") embodies nature, in leaf prints and a palette transitioning from light to dark. taking cue from the kimono, the Mori collection showcases different wats of wearing the traditional Japanese dress, articulated in unstrcutured and versatile wrap dresses, fake wraps, and billowy skirts in soft fabrics.

The Urahara collection delves deeper into the Japanese aesthetic, as it draws attention to the Japanese streetwear featured in Urahara, the backstreets of Harajuku, where the trendy thrive and hang out. Urahara showcases bold casuals in tribal and geometric prints, infusing Japanese streetwear with the brand sensibilities of the Petit Monde girl.

Saku ("bloom") is inspired by the cherry blossoms of Japan's spring season, exhibiting their light and airy feel. Transitioning from the previous collection, Saku showcases the cropped kimono, as well as a variety of other lounge and easy wear in light pinks and blues, in separates that can be mixed and matched in a myriad of combinations.

I didn't know my friend Rhea was walking for the show! Super good job, Buddy! So proud of you!
These Digital Prints are to die for! So pretty and elegant!

Capping off the brand's new fashion line is the Sekai ("world") collection signifying a more evolved and cosmopolitan Petit Monde girl. The most fashion forward of all collections, Sekai mixes leements from Mori, Saku, and Urahara, in new silhouettes and rare fabrics for a modern, high-end feel.
And of course,  one of the highlights of the show was when Baby Kendra Kramer walked the runway with her mom
All four collections are available in all Petit Monde boutiques and corners nationwide.
